Ours ripens on Nile Delta farms, dries slowly under the Egyptian sun and is finished by hand without ever touching a synthetic material. It is the same honest fiber Egyptian hammams have trusted for generations, finished to the standard of everything else we make.

Most loofah products are thin slices sewn onto backing. This is the loofah itself: one whole cone from the vine, dried in the sun and finished with a braided cotton rope. How do I use the shower sponge?
Soak the sponge in warm water for 20 to 30 seconds until the fiber softens, add your body wash or soap bar and massage skin in gentle circles. Rinse it clean and hang it by the rope to dry.
Is it too rough for sensitive skin?
Dry loofah feels firm, but it softens noticeably once soaked. Start with light pressure two or three times a week. Most people find the fiber pleasantly invigorating rather than harsh.
What is the difference between the shower sponge and the body scrubber?
The shower sponge is one whole loofah cone with a rope, all natural fiber, for a deeper scrub. The body scrubber is a flat dual sided pad with a soft cotton terry back for gentler daily cleansing. Many customers keep both in the shower.
How long does one sponge last?
With a proper rinse and hang dry after each use, a sponge keeps its texture for around two to three months of regular showers. When the fiber starts to flatten, rotate in a fresh one.
How do I keep it clean?
Rinse thoroughly after every use and hang it by the rope to dry fully between showers. Once a month, refresh it with a five minute soak in warm water with a splash of white vinegar, then rinse and dry.
Is it really a natural loofah and not plastic?
Yes. Each sponge is the dried fruit of the loofah plant, Luffa aegyptiaca, grown in Egypt for centuries, finished with a natural cotton rope. There is no plastic anywhere in it, so a retired sponge can go straight into the compost.
